How to Get a Mortgage

Once you select us to obtain your home loan, you'll be amazed at how quickly and simply the loan process moves. Before you know it, you'll have a mortgage that suits your lifestyle and saves you money.

Throughout the loan-application process, we provide you with regular updates. You can also e-mail us with questions or new information. And if you want assistance, a mortgage expert who can answer questions is just a phone call away.

Here's an overview of the loan-application process

Step One-- Apply Now! Getting started is easy

Before you've selected a property and have a contract with the Seller, the first step is to complete your loan application and get pre-approved, which can be done easily through our website. To get started, select the Full Application from the list on the left and enter the necessary information.

Step Two-- Submit required information to me in order to process your loan prior to the loan going to our underwriting department.  The list of items needed is shown in the Mortgage Checklist section on the left side of the site.

Step Three -- Once your loan is processed by one of our experience processors, it will be sent to our undewriting department for your official approval.  The underwriter can and usually will ask for additional items needed in order to fully approve your loan, this is normal.  When all necessary conditions have been met, the underwriter will these magic words, "Clear to Close".  This means you are fully approved and ready to schedule a closing.

Step Four-- Your Real Estate Agent or the Seller will designate an Escrow/Title Company to handle the closing and funding of your loan, along with many other factors which make your purchase go smoothly.  Great Lakes Mortgage Funding's closing department will coordinate with the Title Company to create your final closing documents.  At that time, you will be notified no earlier than 24 hours before closing of what you need to bring. 
We will then coordinate with the escrow team and you'll sign the final papers at their office.
